I had a very relaxing morning - had breaky at 8.30am and then fannied about, didn't really achieve much except to drink lots of Cocoa tea - it has certainly helped my head.
I was picked up at 1pm to head out to see various sights of the town so headed off in a minibus with 11 other tourists - american, australian, japanese and germans. We went to the cathedral, the inca temple, the place called 'Sexy Woman' - have no idea how to right the correct spelling but it sounds like sexy woman! of course the guide made many jokes about it. Lots of inca history crossed with the spanish. In the Cathedral they have a black jesus - apparently they discovered him during an earthquake - he had been buried away but when they brought him out the earthquake stopped so they now worship the black jesus! Have to say he looked like a cool dude!
Our guide was really good but really i spent all afternoon looking at and taking pictures of big old stones - in normal circumstances I am happy to do that - any standing stones is a favourite of mine to visit because of the energy you can feel but I didn't feel any energy from any of these stones - too many tourists have passed by I think. Also at one point we drove up to 3800m and that nearly finished me off, a weird flu feeling came over me and I desperately needed to run to the loo!!! nice!! when I came out of the loo my guide gave me some wild mint and told me to rub it between my hands and breath the smell in 3 times deeply - so i did and I have to say about 5 minutes later I felt so much better. Mint is such a great heal all!
the all healing wild mint from the hills around Cusco
Here I am with Cusco city in the background - yup fleece and waterproof on - its Fing freezing here!
The streets here are full of street sellers which can be annoying but these guys need to earn a living some how - of course I go into top negotiation mode in these situations but have to hold myself back from the really hard deals - these guys need to eat!!!
One of the interesting things I saw on the street was this woman and her alpaca - it really looks like she is spinning the wool straight from the alpaca doesn't it?
One thing I love about the Incas is their worship of the sun and the mountains - two things so important to keep this world going round are the sun and the mountains and the water that comes from the mountains that helps to feed the trees and the plants - we should all do a bit of sun and mountain worshipping - it may help to heal the earth that we are trashing.
So an afternoon seeing the sights - tomorrow is the tour of the Sacred Valley so up earlyish for my pick up at 7.50am.
The central square with the christmas lights on, its pretty at night and during the day.
