In January I had a light bulb moment where I realised that I had to write a book about my spiritual journey and all of the therapies I have been learning and experiencing. The book would be called The Trainee Healer. To get me started I decided to write this blog to get me into writing mode and start logging my experiences so I could refer back when i start the book.
Of course finding time to write a book is never going to be easy but I now know why my best friend is not coming to South America and why I will be doing this trip myself. This is when I will write the book - it makes total sense - a year from when I first had the idea I hope to come back with the main structure of the book written. I am so excited now I know this as I have been beating myself up for not having even started the book yet! I plan to have the chapter headings written up before I go so I can stay focussed on what needs to be written.
On a different note, it was amazing to have Simon Goodfellow at my house teaching the Mechanics of Mediumship - the course went well with 9 people signed up for the 2nd part of it in October which is great news. It was also exactly a year since my lovely friends Bronia and Dennis had visited me and we had gone to the body and soul fair and met Simon which lead us to sign up for this Mechanics of Mediumship and at that course in November I persuaded Simon to do his courses in my Conservatory which wasn't even built then. So it really has been an amazing year and just shows what we can do if we really want to! Next year is Green Lady Glens year where I will push on and make sure the courses scheduled in are successful including me teaching Animal Communication and Animal Healing. Roll on 2013 and the start of the Golden Age!

Mechanics of Mediumship.....
So the first ever course at Green Lady Glen starts tomorrow! O M G!!! The first course of my retreat centre is actually happening! I do often fast forward in my mind to 10 years time to when we have our purpose built teaching barn with therapy rooms and our little eco pods in the woods. But I have to remind myself that the life i have been given is precious and not to wish it away. Yes its going to be really hard work and there will be a few knock backs on the way but I am really happy that the course is going ahead tomorrow - we have 13 attendees - the maximum for this course is 12 so we can say its a sell out so its at amazing start. I am really delighted.
My sister has come over to look after everyone and make sure that there is plenty of tea and coffee on the go and my niece is attending the course so its a bit of a family affair for the first course. Its a shame I will miss it because I am working on a TV drama in Edinburgh but its the job that has paid for the huge conservatory and the beautiful decking area that when finished will be able to host some amazing parties..... I mean courses....!!!
Simon Goodfellow is the teacher of the course for the next two days and he is teaching the Mechanics of Mediumship - showing everyone that they have the ability to be a medium - we just have to listen and trust. I attended this course last year and it really blow my mind and opened my world. Simon is the most amazing Medium I have ever met, he is so grounded but so intuitive, really an amazing man so if you want to find out more about him, do one of his courses or have a reading go to his website www.simongoodfellow.com
will let you know how the course goes but I am pretty confident its going to go amazingly well!

Bach Written Exam results......
I PASSED!!!! woop wooop! I got 86% - I am so delighted having never got anywhere 86% ever before in my life for anything!!
I got my results by email just as I arrived to start my Bach Animal course at the Natural Animal Centre in Wales so it seemed very fitting.
The course in Wales was amazing and such an eye opener into animal behaviour. Ross and Lindsy our teachers for the 5 days were informative, knowledgeable and very nice. There was a very non judgemental feeling about the course which was great, if you got answers wrong it didn't matter but they would ask why you thought that remedy would be right in the circumstances. it was a great way to learn and all the animals - i was in heaven! Dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, tortoises, ducks, chickens etc etc it was like home from home for me, a really beautiful place to go to learn.
We watched Ross give a demonstration on clicker training with horses and his beautiful horse bjorn took part - he had never put all 4 feet up on the box before so the pic below is a first! it was amazing to watch - no force, not even a head collar - Bjorn wanted to do it because it was reward training - the way all training should be. After watching this demonstration I am now very interested in doing the Equine Behaviour Qualification which is taught at the Natural Animal Centre so will see if I can sort the money and time out for it next year.
so that is level 1 and 2 completed for my Animal Bach qualification and I head back there in November to do level 3 and my exam.
For my human bach qualification I now have part 2 of level 3 which is some written work before I get to my 3 case studies so plan to get that paper work done today, we get 6 weeks to complete the work but as always i am champing at the bit to get on and really want to get my human case studies started although I have no idea who I am going to work with but really want to work with some strangers rather than people I know to really test me so might but an advert up on the local village website.
So I am still all about Bach - I love Dr Bach's system and how it works in such a gentle way but it really does work on humans and animals.

My Bach Flower Remedy written exam.....
So I didn't get very far sharing my learning of the Bach Flower Remedies with you all - I think I got to Cerato. I had to take a different quicker route to learning as doing a flower a day wasn't working or sticking in my brain so I bought the CD which is available from the Bach Centre www.bachcentre.com and I listened to this in the car day and night going to and from work. This really worked for me, learning by listening and then interacting in verbal exercises. In 10 days I had pretty much memorised 30 of the 38 remedies and their key indications.
I got stuck on the Chestnuts! Not Red Chestnut though for some reason I can always remember that because its in the Fear category - why I am so good with the fear remedies I don't know! I don't think its because of my fear, I think probably I associate each fear remedy with animals, probably dogs specifically. So for those of you who are interested Red Chestnut is for the Fear for others but especially for loved ones.
The other Chestnut Remedies are Sweet Chestnut for Extreme Mental Anguish, Chestnut Bud for people who don't learn from experience so keep repeating mistakes in life and White Chestnut for obsessive unwanted thoughts that are impossible to control so the sufferer will have these thoughts go over and over and over in their minds with no resolution. A White Chestnut person will probably not be able to sleep because of it.
I also got stuck at Gorse which is for hopelessness - its so similar to Mustard and Gentian but I had to remember that if you are hopeless then at some point you had hope - Mustard are for people who have a deep depression for no apparent reason and Gentian is for people who are depressed after a setback. So they are all so similar but I now have them stored in my brain and know that I have to seek more information on how a person is feeling before you can absolutely decide which remedy I would select for them.
Wild Rose was another of my sticking remedies - could not remember it and would get it confused with Rock Water which is for inflexibility and rigidity where as Wild Rose is for people who are apathetic and accepting of the way things are so quite different remedies so if I got them mixed up in a session with someone I would be giving them the completely wrong remedy so they wouldn't get the help they need. Fortunately I seem to have been able to remember Wild Rose because Wild is the opposite of Apathy so it now has stuck in my head and Rock Water because Rocks are inflexible.
Willow was another one I had difficulty remembering - its for self pity, bitterness and resentment so I remember it as Weeping Willow and that seems to help.
So I am hoping that I got all of those straight enough in my head before the exam and that the 2.5 hours of writings I had to complete in the exam were good examples of my knowledge! I need to get 75% before I am allowed to move onto the next stage - its quite high isn't it but I suppose thats a good thing so only potential practitioners with a really good working knowledge of the remedies get to move to the next stage.
Of course my reason for starting down the road on Bach Flower Remedies was to be able to do the Animal course - I don't have to be a human practitioner to do it but I had to get to level 2 for humans before I could apply for the animal course so I thought why not just go to level 3 for humans and see what happens - also quite often you have to treat the human before the animal and sometimes by treating the human the animal gets better itself as animals quite often will bear the burden of their human guardians emotions. so fingers crossed I pass so I can continue on to become a human practitioner and I am really looking forward to starting my Animal Bach learning so head off to Wales to the Natural Animal Centre the week after next.
So more news on Bach will follow from Wales - apparently its really tough going on the course because an animal can't tell you how it feels so you have to look at the animal behaviour to be able to select remedies for them. As some of you will know I love animal behaviour and studied Canine Psychology so I am hoping I arrive on the course with some knowledge that is helpful.
Meantime I am starting my case studies for EFT - did I mention I had passed my EFT written exam? Anyway I did so I have to do 3 case studies - one on myself (have no idea where to start!!) one on a person who has an issue we can resolve in one consultation and another person who will need at least 3 consultations so I am going to work with my friend Scott who wants to stop smoking for that one - so fingers crossed I can help him!
I still have to do my colour therapy written work and case studies too but will get to it in the next month or two with my sister as we are studying this together.

A traumatic yet spiritual experience and some Bach learning
I received a phone call from my very good friend Lindsay - her 32 year old horse was deteriorating fast - his back legs already wobbly and now his front leg was not steady so she was heading to the stables in Fife to make Brummels final arrangements. She called me and asked if I could send healing to them both and I asked if she wanted me to come over to be with her and Brum and she said if I could that would be really good.
So i cancelled all my meetings, packed my car with my healing aids and headed off to Fife. Of course i was feeling very emotional - although i haven't been fully active in Brummels life I have known him for the 20 years that Lindsay has had him in her life and in the last few years we have known he is getting old and I have offered him healing on a few occasions which he seemed to accept and like.
So to help me keep my emotions in check I made myself a Bach Flower Mixture which contained Rescue Remedy to help me be calm, Red Chestnut for the over concern of loved ones, Larch for the fear that my abilities to heal won't work or are not good and Mimulus for the anxiety of having to go through this experience with Lindsay and Brum.
When i got the phone call i immediately focused in my mind on Brum and sent him healing and used the Reiki power symbol so the healing would be strong. So when I arrived at the stables, Lindsay told me to be careful as Brum had been biting everyone so when I approached his stable he looked up at me and immediately I could see recognition in his eyes – yes he knows me but this was different, he was recognising my energy and the healing energy I had been sending him, how amazing. As I went up to his stall I was of course being careful not to get bitten but he stretched his head out and put his head on my shoulder and sort of moved his back jaw area and pulled me close to him and and just rested like that – he was giving me a hug! He held me like that for about 10 minutes. It was very special and from that moment onward I know i will never again need Larch as a remedy for my ability to heal animals.
When Lindsay called me I told her to go and get some Rescue Remedy and to give it to both herself and to Brum as often as she felt necessary and that I would make a mixture of for each of them which I need when i had spent some time healing Brum and had had a chat to Lindsay. I cannot give a remedy to an animal with it being a vet referral but the vet had previous given permission for me to give Brum mixtures so the vet was happy for me to make another mixture.
This is what I mixed for Lindsay
Pine - for feelings of guilt - of course she was and is feeling guilty about what she was about to do
Walnut - which is to help in times of major change - not having a horse to look after, after 20 years of him being her focus is a huge life change.
Red Chestnut - for fear and over concern for loved ones
Honeysuckle - to help her to not dwell on the past, this remedy is good for helping people get over bereavement
Mimulus for the anxiety for what she was about to do for Brum
Gentian for getting back up on her feet after a setback - putting your horse to sleep is a pretty big setback.
Rescue Remedy - the great thing about rescue remedy is that it has 5 remedies in it but it actually only counts as one in a mixture so she would benefit from the Star of Bethlehem (for grief), Rock Rose (for terror) and and Cherry Plum (fear of losing control)
You are only allowed 7 remedies in a mixture so thats why the rescue remedy came in handy.
I told Lindsay to take 4 drops of the mixture as often as she wanted - normally we would say 4 drops 4 times a day but in the circumstances taking the mixture more is fine. I also told her it would be ok for her to give to her mum too - her mum will have been feeling all of the above too.
This is what i made up for Brum
Walnut - i had read that Walnut helps the soul of the animal move on, his soul was about to have a big change so this seems appropriate.
Olive - he must have been tired as he never lies down and he had started to lean his bum on the stable wall. Olive is for people who are exhausted of body and mind - i don't think Brums mind was exhausted but his body was getting there.
Oak - is for those who are exhausted but they struggle on - Brummel definitely struggled on.
Impatiens - for some patience and to slow him down because even though his legs didn't work properly he was still pushy and wanting to get out and about.
Rescue Remedy - to help with stress of watching everyone around him cry and be upset. It would also help with the fears he would have started to feel.
So we were all sucking on our mixtures. I definitely think mine helped me to stay calm and keep my emotions in check.
I gave Brum a couple of hours of healing - mixing TTouch with healing and also colour therapy - i have a handheld therapy light that i can change colours so i gave him some Magenta which is a beautiful healing colour. Everything was very calm. I went back to the stables just after 6am to give Brum some healing before the people arrived to put him to sleep. He seemed calm and accepted some healing but it was more important that Lindsay got to spend the last hour with her beloved horse so I healed from a distance, including Lindsay and her mum in the healing i was giving.
When the time came it was very emotional. Lindsay left Brummel and got into the car with her mum and drove away as they didn't want to hear the noise of the bolt firing. My car was blocked in so I couldn't get away so I sat in my car and continued to send healing and asked all of my guides, my animal guides and all of the Arch Angels to surround Brummel to give healing and help his soul pass on. I felt a huge swell of emotion and then heard the noise of the bolt gun. I stayed until he had moved on.
I managed to hold myself together and drove to Lindsays house and had a cup of tea but then went over to see my sister and completely broke down but it was so important for me to have that emotional release. If I am going to be working in this way with animals i know i need to be able to release my own emotions when the time is right because i will have to hold it together on so many occasions to help the animals guardians through whatever is happening.
I feel very honoured that Lindsay allowed me to be part of her and Brums last few hours together. It was hard, stressful and emotional but I am glad I could help them both and will continue to send Lindsay healing to help her cope with her grief.

Clematis - Dreaminess; lack of interest in the present
So another bottle to come out of my box unopened. I have had my box since December just after i did my level one bach course. I am sure i have come across Clematis people in that time - probably actors!
Anyway the 38 Flower Remedies book says the follow:
Clematis is for people who live in a world of their own with no interest in the real world. They find it hard to live in the present.
They are not really happy and yearn for better times; however they take no active steps to bring these about. They have a poor memory, with little head for detail. They tend to lack energy and appear absent minded.
They like to be alone and will avoid confrontations by withdrawing. When ill they make no effort to get well. They may be strongly romantic. Clematis is appropriate for people who have lost a loved one and long to join them. Through lack of concentration, they may tend to be accident-prone.
Ah well at least the Clematis person is romantic - thats not such a bad thing is it?!
Clematis is in the 'Live the Day' catergory or 'Not sufficient interest in present circumstance'.
The Twelve healers says
Those who are dreamy, drowsy, not fully awake, no great interest in life. Quiet people, not really happy in their present circumstances, living more in the future than in the present; living in hopes of happier times, when their ideals may come true. In illness some make little or no effort to get well, and in certain cases may even look forward to death, in the hope of better times or may be meeting again some beloved one whom they have lost.
Again similar to the 38 Flower Remedies explanation but the Twelve Healers description seems a bit more desperate I think.
The positive side of a Clematis person is
Someone who has a lively interest in the world around, and enjoyment of live. Positive Clematis people are open to inspiration and fulfill their creative potential, for instance in art, writing, design, fashion or healing. Realistic and down to earth they have a sense of purpose and recognise that the future is shaped by the present. They are well grounded and able to control their thoughts.
Phew - that sounds more like it. I think i tend to be a Clematis positive person and i think that is a great thing to be. I will put the Clematis back unopened in the box!

Chicory - are you possessive and over-protective?
Chicory is for people who are overly possessive and whose care for others is self-centred and manipulative. These strong-willed people expect other people to conform to their values; they may be critical, interfering and nagging. They find it hard to give without expecting anything in return.
They dislike being alone and demand constant attention and service as a duty; typical is the possessively domineering parent who keeps adult children under his or her thumb. Although strong, they are self-pitying and easily offended. Some Chicory people will feign illness in order to gain attention - for example, the possessive parent who manifests 'heart pains' whenever a daughter tries to leave home. The are often very talkative, opinionated and argumentative.
All of the above is from the 38 Flower Remedies book.
The Chicory person is not too nice really are they?
Apparently Chicory is also good for children who make constant and unreasonable demands for attention.
Thank god there is a positive side to Chicory!
The positive potential of Chicory is seen in people who are able to care for others unselfishly, offering genuine maternal love. They give without expecting anything back and allow their loved ones to be themselves and live their own lives. Feeling fulfilled and self-assured, they no longer need other people's assurance that they are worthy of love. They are warm, kind, concerned for others and sensitive to other people's needs.
No who wouldn't want to be a Positive Chicory person?!
